The School Model

Your School.
Our Structure.

THE U PREP is a training academy, not a school — and that's the advantage. Your family keeps full control of your athlete's education while we provide the daytime court structure and dedicated, supervised study blocks to make it work.

📚 You Choose the School

Enroll with any of our NCAA-approved accredited online education partners — or your own homeschool program. Your athlete earns full class credit through their school, on a schedule built around training.

🕧 We Protect the Study Time

Every training day includes a structured academic block with laptops, a supervised study hall, and accountability — so schoolwork never becomes the thing that "gets done later."

🎯 Personalized Pathways

Every athlete's goals are different. Academic pursuits are aligned with athletic development so each student crafts a path that supports their personal growth — and prepares them for the next level.

Beyond the Court

We Build the Player.
We Build the Person.

Talent gets you noticed. Character keeps you there. Every U athlete develops the life skills that separate professionals from prospects.

💰

Financial Literacy

Students learn to understand and manage money — the skill most pros wish they had earlier.

🎤

Special Guest Appearances & Pro Mentorship

Professionals from diverse industries share real-world experience that links learning to life.

🧭

Career Exploration

Former collegiate and pro athletes talk honestly about career transitions and life after the game.

🏘️

Community Service

Monthly service projects build civic engagement, humility, and teamwork beyond the gym walls.

🎬

Film Room & Tactical IQ

Structured film sessions teach athletes to read the game like a coach — the edge that separates good guards from great ones.

The Proof

Trained by The U.
Heard in Their Words.

Our founder's development methods have guided over 40 NBA and WNBA players — including six NBA draft lottery picks. Here's what they say.

"

Coming into the league a lot of guys didn't really respect my mid range or 3 point shooting ability, causing defenders to always go under the pick when running pick & roll scenarios. Working with Olin early in my career we worked on coming off the pick getting to different spots or the paint & shooting rather than working on making the pass to the rolling big.

"

Coach O has been a key part of my basketball journey since I was a kid. Being from Ladera my parents had me lock in with Olin when I was 11. Ever since he has been guiding me, improving my game at every level, & mentoring me which has helped shape me into the man & player I am today.

Spencer DinwiddieLos Angeles Lakers
"

Training with Olin during my first NBA off-season helped me improve my pull-up jumper for the speed of the NBA heading into my second season. By working in the gym at game speed with other NBA guys plus Olin's ability to break down film & show comparison's to other elite guys I was able to get past some of the growing pains that other guys face coming into the league.

Summer Is Not a Break.
It's Your Competitive Advantage.

We are already seeing the same trajectory of excellence this year — and we fully expect to celebrate similar breakout success stories from this group in the seasons ahead.

The athletes who separate themselves are the ones who treat the first week of June like Day One of their championship campaign. Lock in. Train with purpose. The work you do now will define who you become — on the court and in the classroom.

We are proud of every single one of you. Now let's go build something legendary this summer.

The Founder — Olin "The Guard Whisperer" Simplis

Guided by 30+ Years of Pro Development.

From Belize to Los Angeles, Olin Simplis has spent over 30 years developing pros. As Head of Player Development at Wasserman, he has developed 40+ NBA and WNBA players, 100+ D1 college athletes, and 6 NBA draft lottery picks — including Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Evan Mobley, and Payton Pritchard.

A Belizean-born talent who flourished in Los Angeles, Simplis led the Belizean National Team to a gold medal in 1999 before a successful professional stint in South America. Today his 6 Pillars of Shooting are taught daily in The Dojo, and his legendary summer runs regularly draw 15–20 professional athletes from around the world.

Questions, Answered

Before You Ask.

THE U PREP is designed for both middle school and high school student-athletes who are enrolled in homeschool or accredited online academic programs — and who are serious about training in a true professional environment while keeping their academics strong.

No — and that's by design. Parents choose their preferred accredited online school or homeschool program and stay in full control of enrollment, grades, and academic progress. THE U PREP provides the daytime facility, supervised study hall, structure, and elite training that make it all work together.

Sessions run in The Dojo at our Glendale facility — 1219 Los Angeles St., Glendale, CA 91204 — and at Jump Beyond Sports in Torrance — 1780 Oak St., Torrance, CA 90501. The best way to experience it is in person: book a walkthrough and come watch a live session.

Four steps: fill out the Athlete Questionnaire, schedule your in-person walkthrough, confirm your online school partner, and secure your spot with the intake deposit upon acceptance. Roster spots are limited to protect our 2:1 player-to-coach ratio — our team guides you through each step.
